Accumall [view]
Issues/Objectives: AccuWeather
has a website that has millions of visitors each month. Always
looking for a way to monetize their web traffic, AccuWeather
launched an ecommerce website in 1998 to sell Weather related
products. Unfortunately, their system was difficult to use
both by their consumers and by AccuWeather’s staff.
There was no easy way to add products or to get any detailed
trending information from the site. AccuWeather contacted
Lazerpro in July of 2002 for assistance in adding revenue
to their bottom line and to better monetize their web traffic
through online product sales. At the time, they did not inventory
or ship any products. Everything was drop shipped from the
suppliers, so AccuWeather needed a system that would do third
party vendor notifications upon order receipt. Accumall was in need
of an ecommerce developer that could provide a system to easily organize,
track, and manage their products and sales.
Lazerpro's Role: Lazerpro
was contracted to build the system in mid-July and it was
launched in early September. Lazerpro delivered an ecommerce web solution that
has a clean look and is very user friendly for both the consumer
and for the site’s administratrators. AccuWeather now
has instantaneous access to live trend data and user feedback,
so that they can better assist their online visitors/shoppers
and make adjustments based on their buying habits. AccuWeather
can easily add new products and or change any content on the
site through an administrative control center that Lazerpro
constructed.
Prior to the launch of the new website, AccuWeather realized
weekly online sales of $200 per week. Since the September
2002 launch of the Lazerpro-created website, weekly sales
have exceeded $4,000.
We have contracted Lazerpro for multiple projects and
we are delighted with the results. They understand the medium
far better than most, and they have always delivered upon
our high expectations. Their systems work as promised.
